Kunduli gang-rape case probe panel hearing held

Koraput: The Commission of Inquiry on the alleged Kunduli gang-rape and suicide case held its seventh phase hearing and recording of statements in the Semiliguda camp court Sunday.

The victim’s mother, brother and maternal uncle have been served notices to depose before the commission.

The minor tribal girl from Musaguda village of Koraput district had brought rape charges against four security personnel posted in the

region October 10, 2017. Initially, the case was investigated by police but following a huge public outcry, it was handed over to Crime Branch.

The girl had committed suicide by hanging self at her house January 22.

Following the incident, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik February 7 ordered a court-monitored Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the case and sought report within three months. The Commission of Inquiry visited

Musaguda village and interacted with the family members of the victim April 29.

Later, the tenure of the inquiry commission was extended two times -March 26 and June 22.
