Nayagarh: Resentment brewed among the parents Kendriya Vidyalaya students in this district after the authorities resumed school after summer vacation Monday despite strict orders of the government to reopen academic institutions after June 21.
The school authorities casually informed some students to be present in the school Monday, sources said. Most of the parents and students were in the dark about the decision.
“When all schools in the state are closed, why are the school authorities not following the orders of the government,” questioned Kendriya Vidyalaya Parents’ Association coordinator Gouri Shankar Das.
When contacted, the school principal S Srinibas said that they were following the guidelines set by Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner. Since the teachers had not completed the course as per syllabus, the school was resumed in the morning session from 6am to 10:30am, the principal said, adding the school will be open Tuesday also.
However, this did not go well with the parents of the school children. What if anything happens to the children due to excess heat, they questioned.
Keeping in mind the prevailing intense heat wave, the government had earlier postponed the summer vacations to June 21, which actually was scheduled to open June 18.
