Bhuban: Non-availability of a hearse in Bhuban health centre forced the family members of a deceased farmer to carry the body in a trolley rickshaw at Nilakanthapur village under this police limits in Dhenkanal district Tuesday.
The deceased farmer was identified as Daitari Mallick (60) in the village. He was drowned in Brahmani river while bathing Monday. Family members searched for him but failed to trace him. Later, some villagers noticed the body floating in the river and informed his family members.
Police with help of fire personnel recovered the body and conducted a post-mortem in Bhuban health centre. However, due to non-availability of Mahaprayan hearse his kin had to ferry the body on a trolley rickshaw which has sparked resentment here.
