Chhatrapur: A lady doctor allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train in near Chhatrapur railway station in Ganjam district Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Archana Dash, doctor at a private hospital in Bhubaneswar. While no exact reason was known, sources said, the medical practitioner jumped before a goods train due to marital discord.
She was allegedly tortured both mentally and physically by her husband who also happens to be a doctor and his family members.
Sources said, Archana was married to Anjan Dash five years ago who works as a Cardiac Anesthesiologist at a private hospital in Gajapati Nagar area in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, the couple was at odds owing which the woman was staying at her parent’s place.
“Recently, my daughter had received a notice from Bhubaneswar Family Court. The allegations leveled against her were all made-up. She was under stress post receiving the notice. Besides, her in-laws had been torturing my daughter since long,” Raghunath Dash, father of the deceased alleged.
Archana’s mutilated body was recovered from the tracks Friday morning by the Government Railway Police, Chatrapur. The body was sent for post-mortem.
“We have recovered the body and it has been sent for post-mortem. Further investigation is on into the case,” Sukanta Bhoi, GRP IIC said.
