Lady sarpanch’s efforts to streamline school hailed

Angul:  Pramila Naik, the sarpanch of Jamunali panchayat under Banarpal block in Angul district, has garnered appreciation of one and all in Jamunali for her efforts in bringing the local primary school up to mark.

Naik was disappointed to see the state of affairs at Jamunali Primary School while she had been there three days ago. At that time the unhygienic surrounding of the institution caught her attention.

With a zeal to fix the issue, she went there again Thursday. With the help of local people, she managed to clean the surroundings and cut down the wild growth of bushes and grasses.

After getting the job done, she went to the Anganwadi centre functioning from the same premises. Finding the Anganwadi didi absent owing to her training programme, she taught the children for about an hour.

Next, she was found having launch with the students of the school.

She expressed her concern after seeing the low quality of food being served to the students. While the rice was overcooked, the watery gravy of potato-egg curry was tasteless and wanting in salt. She reprimanded the staff and the cook for serving low quality food to students. She also warned them to take up the issue with higher officials, if they continue to skimp.

Many residents in the locality have expressed their happiness with the intent and action of the sarpanch.
