New Delhi: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed the Koraput district collector to submit an action taken report in connection with pollution of Jagannath Sagar Lake in Jeypore.
A three-judge bench of the tribunal comprising Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel, Judicial Member Raghuvendra Rathore and Expert Member Satyawan Singh Garbyal asked the District Collector to submit report within two months.
A petition was filed in the tribunal alleging that the Jagannath Sagar Lake has been polluted due to the negligence of authorities. The petitioner alleged that pollution is due to the in-flow of sewerage. The Boat Club lies defunct.
The petitioner also stated that a bus stop is being built by filling a part of the lake.
The matter has been listed for hearing July 30.
