Landmine found near railway track in Odisha’s Sundargarh, defused

Sundargarh: A landmine weighing nearly 10kilogram was recovered from the railway track near Topadihi railway station under K Balang police limits in Odisha’s Sundargarh district, a source said Friday.

The local police and District Voluntary Force (DVF) personnel in a joint operation seized the landmine which was later defused by the bomb squad, the source added.

SDPO Swaraj Debata said an old landmine resurfaced after the soil kept on top of it got washed away. He further explained that the explosive had also degraded, and it was successfully defused by the authorities.

Following the incident, the search operation has been intensified near the locality by security personnel.
