Landslide cuts off Bonda Ghati from rest of the world

Malkangiri: A landslide caused by incessant rain has cut off Bonda Ghati here from the rest of the world.

While most parts of the district have been reeling under inundation problems, at least 32 villagers in tribal-dominated Bonda Ghati area lost its road connectivity following a landslide at Mankad Jhola area. A large chunk of earth blocked the road, reports said.

Pangam, MV-37, Korukonda, Kalimela were completely inundated, and hundreds of vehicles were stranded on either side of the Malkangiri-Jeypore, Malkangiri-Balimela and Padia-Kalimela roads as rain water submerged these routes.

With the low-lying bridges remaining submerged under rainwater, the traffic on other routes in the district was also badly hit.

However, ODRAF, fire officials and police teams have been on alert in case of any eventuality.
