BHUBANESWAR: Morning shows the day. Jasmine Parthasarathi Mishra, a 9-year-old who is already a Karate master merited eight gold medals at the National level during the last one and half years. The young prodigy is going to represent India in the Commonwealth Karate Championships to be held in Durban, South Africa this year.
Orissa POST interacted with her and her father regarding daily routine, preparations for big competitions, achievements and more.
Her father Parthasarathi Mishra said “I had dedicated four years during my prime for building a massive steel plant. In those years, I spent a very small percentage of my time with my daughter. Jasmine made me proud by winning three national gold medals in Karate Junior category held at Chennai August 12 2017. She had clinched the gold in the 8-years girls’ category “Kata”. She had also achieved gold in the “Kumite” (Fight) competition.
The success that we have achieved would not have been possible without her coach Valena Valentina who is an international gold medal winner. Jasmine is also a good student who scored 90% in 3rd Standard, he said.
On being enquired about her daily routine, Jasmine said, “My day starts at school. After school, I complete my homework at home. I go to my karate classes from 8 pm to 11 pm daily. There is no holiday in my schedule.”
In the fifth Japan Shotokan Karate Open National Championship 2018, Jasmine had to compete with black belt karate girls who were three years senior to her as there were no black belt competitors in the 9 years category. She defeated all her rivals to win the gold medal.
