Bhubaneswar: A rare celestial spectacle is going to unfold with an annular lunar eclipse looming large November 30, 2020 i.e. on the auspicious occasion of Kartik Purnima.
While the annularity will be passing over North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Australia including the Pacific and Atlantic oceans.
However, during the event, the Moon will be below the horizon for which it will not be visible in India. This is the fourth and final lunar eclipse of the year.
Here’s everything you must know about the upcoming penumbral lunar eclipse:
- The lunar eclipse that occurs in November is called Beaver Moon Eclipse in many parts of the world as this is the beaver trapping season. It is also called Frosty Moon or Oak Moon in some countries.
- Due to its position and timing, the eclipse will not be visible in India. However, skygazers can witness the astronomical event online as several channels will live stream the event.
- Residents of Lima, Peru will witness the celestial event at first at 2:32 AM (local time).
- All the lunar eclipses that took place in 2020 were penumbral.
- The next lunar eclipse will take place May 26, 2021 which will be a total lunar eclipse.
The first lunar eclipse of 2020 took place January 10 while the second one took place June 5 and the third July 5.
