Lending a helping hand to Fani-hit

BHUBANESWAR: A resident of the Capital Pratap Sahu has come forward to help victims who are grappling with power outage and lack of water in the aftermath of extremely severe cyclonic storm ‘Fani’.

Interacting with Orsissa Post, Sahu said, “I am providing free services to the people of Bhubaneswar, Puri, and Cuttack by using my own vehicle and generator facility. I charge the electronic gadgets of 40 people at a time. I even help people in the slum areas. I have undertaken this humanitarian effort since a week.”

“According to me, technology is the most important aspect of today’s world as people work and talk mostly through cell phones. Most of the distressed are students and outsiders. They need to charge their phones desperately to talk to their family members,” he said.

One of the beneficiary said, “The skill and prompt work of Sahu helped in partial restoration of our work. It enabled us to talk to our family members too.”

“Sahu has prioritised charging the cell phones of his beneficiaries. The relief material we usually get contains food which is important of course. However, restoring power and telecommunication facilities is equally important. I thank Sahu for his humanitarian gesture,” said another beneficiary.
