Angul: Forest officials Saturday recovered the carcass of a leopard from Jadupur area under Athmallik forest range here in Angul district.
The matter came to the fore after locals spotted the carcass lying in the forest and alerted the forest officials late Friday night.
Regional Chief Conservator of Forests (RCCF) and Divisional Forest Officer reached the spot and probed the matter shortly after the matter came to fore.
While the exact reason behind the death of the animal is yet to be ascertained, a post-mortem was conducted and the carcass was buried.
The animal is expected to be 3-4 years old. Officials informed that the reason behind the death can only be ascertained after receiving the autopsy report.
