Bhubaneswar: The residents of Palaspalli are frightened after a leopard was spotted in the area Sunday.
Visuals of the leopard entering the premises of a commercial establishment were captured on CCTV cameras, sources said.
The leopard was seen entering the building after scaling the airport wall at 10:30pm.
“I was talking over the phone when the leopard entered our campus around 11pm Sunday. I panicked as the animal was just a few metres away from where I was standing,” said Bankidhar Senapati.
Senapati said that he raised an alarm and informed other employees of the company about the leopard. “They did not believe me at first. But they had to believe after seeing the CCTV footage,” he said.
Meanwhile, City DFO Ashok Mishra said, “The sighting of a leopard in Bhubaneswar is unusual. It could have strayed from Chandaka. We have sent a forest team to the spot.”
Mishra urged people not to panic and not to disturb the animal as it can turn hostile. “Once the forest team reaches the spot, action will be taken to capture it,” he said.
