‘Less is more’

Saumya 5

TV actress Saumya Tandon of ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai’ fame likes to keep her style simple and classy

What’s your chill-out outfit?

My preferred outfit is something that’s comfortable. I love ganjis and jeans and linen. It could also be a nice loose linen frock.

Do you like bold colours or subtle shades?

I like all colours. The choice of colours depends on seasons and moods. In summer, I’d like to wear white and pastels and subtle colours. If it’s an evening event, I’d go for burgundy or a midnight blue. So it depends on the time, place, occasion or the season.

How do you describe your style?

My personal style statement is minimalist. I don’t like to overdress. I keep it simple, elegant, feminine and clean. I always say less is more. I like to keep it simple and classy.

When it comes to jewellery, would you choose heavy pieces or lighter ones?

There is no hard and fast rule. It depends what I am wearing. If I am wearing an Indian outfit, I could pick up some statement jewellery piece. And if I am wearing something western, I like to keep it simple and subtle.

What occupies more space in your wardrobe: Traditional outfits or western?

Being in the entertainment industry, I like to wear both. My everyday clothes are western, but I’ve a lot of Indian and traditional outfits for events and special occasions. More western in day-to-day life and Indian for special occasions!

Your style icon please.

It’s Audrey Hepburn. She is classy, feminine, elegant and graceful. I feel, she is timeless.

How long does it take for you to get dressed?

45 minutes at the most.

What’s the best part of being you?

I am the most comfortable, happy and feel so when I am doing it best reflecting my personality that’s simple and classy.

What is fashion, according to you?

You will never be out of fashion when something that reflects your personality, something that gets the best out of you and something irrespective of which time, generation, place and culture you are in.
