Kendrapara: The octogenarian father of the 55-year-old Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) handler, Habibur Rahaman, said Tuesday that if his son was involved in anti-national activities then he should be punished.
Mir Aeinuddin said, Islam says that if a person is born and brought up in a country he should dedicate his life for it. My son should be punished if he is involved in terror activities. If the NIA finds me guilty of helping my son in anti-national activities then I am ready for punishment.
“My son has spoiled the image of my village with his links to LeT,” said Aeinuddin with tears in his eyes.
Mir Aeinuddin belongs to Mirmohalla hamlet of Tendakuda village. He worked in the painting section of Tata Steel for 34 years. He married thrice. His first wife left after some months of marriage and as a result he married a second time. But after some years, his wife died and he married third time.
Habibur Rahaman and his sister were the children of his second wife. His two other sons and five daughters were the children of his third wife. Habibur was the eldest among his siblings. Habibur studied up to Class IV in a local school. He was not a good student and took up wielding and denting work in Rourkela and at the age of 22, he went to Mumbai and settled down there.
Habibur Rahaman married a Christian woman and after some years he married a Muslim. Habibur’s first wife gave birth to two children and his second wife had two more children. “When I went for Haj in 2004 Habibur met me there. Later in 2006, he came to the village with his wife and two children to attend the marriage of his younger brother Attabur Rahman. After that day he has never come to Orissa over last 12 years,” Aeinuddin said.
“We do not have any links with him or his family. We knew Habibur was staying with his family in Mumbai,” said Attabur Rahaman, his younger brother.
