Life crippled due to 12-hour bandh in Binika

Sonepur: Locals of Binika in Sonepur district intensified their protest as they observed a dawn-to-dusk bandh Friday over filling up of doctor posts in Binika community health centre and other hospitals in the district.

Almost all shops and business establishments downed their shutters while vehicles stayed off the roads at various places in view of the stir.

“Despite repeated requests by locals, the district administration did not pay any heed towards our demand. This time the protest will be intensified and all government-run offices will remain closed till fulfillment of the demand”, an agitator said.

Notably, a 12-hour bandh was called by the residents of Binika August 21 to press for the same demand.

Congress activists August 13 had also called for a 12-hour bandh here to raise the issue.

Members of Bar Association and traders’ union had extended their support to the bandh.

The members of BJP had also observed a strike August 11 seeking fulfillment of the demand.
