Baripada: PRM Medical College and Hospital at Rangamatia is assuming importance in healthcare in Mayurbhanj, but absence of some facilities has allegedly affected healthcare.

The medical college is run from the 7-storied mother child healthcare building of the district headquarters hospital.

Sadly, two lifts of the medical college are defunct. One is not working for a long time, but no step has been tan to get it repaired.

It was alleged that the medical authorities are sitting pretty and do not sort out the mess.

The first floor of the building has women and child department (outdoor patients) while the second floor has labour room.

The third floor has labour room (OT), the fourth floor had pediatrics department and the fifth floor has obstetrics and genecology department.

As the lift is not working patients have to face a lot of problem in going upstairs, it was alleged.

The building has two lifts. One is for patients while the other for the staff and doctors.

The lift meant for patients has conked out since April 10 while the other lift has also gone out of order May 3.

Manager of the hospital Samir Kumar Mohapatra said the lifts will be repaired soon.
