Liquor seized from Anganwadi centre, worker arrested

Malkangiri: A huge quantity of Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) was recovered and seized from an Anganwadi centre at Titang village in this district, Thursday. One of the Anganwadi workers was also arrested. She has been identified as Urmila Mandal.

Sources said, superintendent of district excise department Ashok Kumar Seth had been tipped off that IMFL was being sold from the Anganwadi centre. Acting on Seth’s direction, a team led by excise inspector M Jagga Rao conducted raids at the centre and seized 95 IMFL whiskey bottles of 180 ml each and 46 beer bottles of 500 ml each.

An investigation has also been launched to ascertain if there are other persons involved in this selling of liquor. Police are also trying to find out how such huge quantity of IMFL was being stored in the Anganwadi centre.
