Cuttack, Jan 11: Orissa eves played poorly to lose to Railways in their second Elite Group-B match of the National Senior Women’s T-20 cricket tournament in Pune, Sunday.

Chasing a challenging victory target of 144 runs, Orissa could manage only 96 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated over. After losing the top four batswomen with only 20 runs on the board, Orissa were never in the chase. Only Kadambini Mahakuda (26, 38b, 1×4) and Swagatika Rath (27, 23b, 5×4) batted well to take Orissa close to the three-figure mark. Shubh Lakshmi (3/13) bowled well for Railways.

Earlier Harmanpreet Kaur (59, 44b, 5×4, 3×6) and Mithali Raj (53, 43b, 6×4) blasted Orissa bowlers to all parts of the ground to put up a good total for the Railways. Orissa’s Sujata Mallick (3/12) bowled well to restrict the opposition.

Brief scores: Railway 143/4(Harmanpreet Kaur 59, Mithali Raj 53; Sujata Mallick 3/12) beat Orissa 96/8 (Swagatika Rath 27; Shubh Lakshmi 3/13) by 47 runs.
