Chandbali: Vehicular movement was disrupted on Chandbali-Aradi main road in Bhadrak Wednesday after hundreds of locals blocked it over lack connectivity to Kullibindha and Gualibindha villages under Tentulidihi panchayat.
The people of the two villages have been facing a lot of commuting problems in the absence of all-weather roads. The villages are only four km away from the block headquarters.
The residents alleged that most of the time the Baitarani river embankment caves in, disrupting communication to the villages particularly during floods. For the entire monsoon, the villagers remain marooned for days together.
In emergency cases, access of ambulances, fire tenders and other vehicles to the villages is almost impossible. The road gets slippery and muddy and gives nightmarish experience to the commuters.
“Though we have taken up the issue of bad communication with the administration and local leaders, nothing has been done,” lamented the villagers.
Upset over this, the villagers blocked the road. Tehsildar Satyajit Rout rushed to the spot and placated the agitating people.
