Jhumpura: With law and order deteriorating and crime graph soaring, residents and members of Jhumpura Traders’ Association staged protests near the police station in Keonjhar district Tuesday.
Jhumpura bazar witnessed several cases of shoplifting, thefts, burglary, diesel siphoning from vehicles in July.
Locals said, there has been no police action against the accused. They pointed out that material worth lakhs of rupees were looted from a store, just 300 metre away from police station recently while a Scorpio vehicle was taken away by thieves from the area.
The police station has no IIC for a long time. During the agitation, the police officials present there expressed their inability to tackle all cases in view of staff shortage.
Later, the agitators relented after a police officer assured them of action in this regard.
