Locals stage protest in Baripada over several demands

Baripada:  Over a hundred men and women under the banner of North Odisha Youth and Students’ Union (NOYSU) Monday staged a protest in front of Mayurbhanj collector’s office in Baripada over several demands.

Citing the ever-increasing flow of patients to Baripada based Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College (PRM) and poor healthcare coverage in the area, the agitators demanded a seat hike in the institution to 1000 from the present strength of 355.

Besides, they urged the collector to fill the vacant doctor, technician, pharmacist and radiographer positions at several of the hospitals in the district at the earliest.

Further, governmental takeover of local Homeopathic and Ayurvedic college, distribution of land records to homeless residents of Baripada were among the issues that were taken up by the agitators.
