Bhubaneswar: The body of an assistant section officer (ASO) employed at Lok Seva Bhavan here was found hanging inside his rented house in Acharya Vihar area under suspicious circumstances. Investigating officer (IO) ASI Mohan Charan Murmu of Saheed Nagar police station said the deceased was identified as Mara Marandi, 26, a native of Mayurbhanj district. He was employed in the Steel and Mines department at Lok Seva Bhavan here. The IO also said, “Mara’s roommate Lalmohan arrived at the rented house around 2pm and found the main door bolted from inside. His suspicion grew when Mara did not respond despite knocking on the door several times. He went near the window at the backside of the house and spotted Mara hanging from the ceiling fan.”
On being informed, cops rushed to the spot and broke the door open. However, by then, Mara had died. The ASI said though the exact reason for his death is yet to be ascertained, Mara’s colleagues are being quizzed to elicit more details. “Post-mortem report will reveal the details of the death,” he added.
