Berhampur: The decomposed body of a missing bank employee, who was allegedly murdered by a doctor over a suspected love triangle, was exhumed 25 days after it was buried in the backyard of his house in Badagumula near Berhampur, Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Bishnuprasad Gouda, a private bank employee and resident of Bania village. Police sources said, Gouda had gone missing since August 18. The accused has been identified as Dr Hrusikesh Tripathy who is absconding.
While the exact reason behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, police suggest that it might have been the result of a tiff between Gouda and Dr Tripathy, both of whom were having an affair with a lady doctor.
According to reports, the doctor called Gouda to his clinic on some pretext where he allegedly killed him. Later, he called his helper to the clinic, Gagan Behera, to hide the body. The two then took the body in a car and buried it at the backyard of Dr Tripathy’s house. They even built a septic tank over the spot to mislead the police.
Gouda’s family members grew suspicious after the former did not return home and remained incommunicado. A missing complaint was lodged at the Baidyanathpur and Khallikote police stations. The family had also conveyed their concern to the District Collector.
Following the complaint, a special team was formed on the orders of the SP. During the probe, police detained Behera on suspicion, who finally spilled the beans during interrogations. Based on his revelation, police unearthed the body even as the doctor is on the run since Behera’s arrest.
