Patrapur: Police Tuesday found the body of a girl, who was allegedly murdered by her lover, in a well at Kespur village near Jarada in Ganjam district.
The deceased was identified as Bhabani Behera, daughter of Sudam Behera from Puri, police said.
Though the crime had taken place Saturday, it came to fore only Monday after the accused surrendered himself at Jarada police station.
The girl went missing since October 20 following which her family members lodged a complaint with the police.
According to police sources, Bhabani Behera was pursuing her higher education at Khariaguda College while staying with her grandfather in S Nuagaon.
She fell in love with Gautam, a married man from Kespur village. She had gone to Kespur last Saturday and met Gautam. She pestered him for marriage following which Gautam lost his cool and strangulated her to death. Later he stashed the body in a polythene bag and dumped in a well near Kespur village.
