Bhubaneswar: July 31, is celebrated as Loyola Day to pay homage to St Ignatius of Loyola, the founder of the Society of Jesus, an influential and dynamic religious order. He was an organisational genius. He dedicated the last 16 years of his life in governing, finalising the constitutions of the society, in enormous correspondence and in guiding the expanding order. He died at the age of 66, July 31, 1556.
On the eve of the Loyola Day, the Rector of the school, Fr Gilbert Menezes, SJ gave a message to students regarding their vision and motto of the Jesuits “Ad majorem Dei gloriam” [AMDG] which means “for the greater glory of God”. Principal, Fr Victor Misquith, SJ and other Jesuits were present on the occasion.
