post news network, Bhubaneswar May 2: The Swosti Group is all set to expand its footprint in the state with the commissioning of its luxury property, Swosti Chilika Resort, built on a nine-acre area on the bank of the Chilika Lake. The resort is scheduled to open early 2017. The company has also acquired land parcels for hotel and resort projects at Puri, Satpada and Bhitarkanika, all coastal areas within Orissa, said a company spokesperson.
The group “has engaged one of the most renowned international architectural firm from Thailand for putting up this resort with 70 keys that include presidential suite, villas, quad villas, hotel block, SPA villas, pool villas etc.,” said J K Mohanty, managing director, Swosti Group of Hotels-Resorts-Travels-Education. There would also be houseboats, SPA, SPA on the houseboats, yoga centre, herbal gardens, international-standard lush green landscaping of the nine-acre land, amphitheater, business centre, library, handicrafts souvenir shop, water sports, water scooters, facilities for water surfing, boating facilities around 26 Islands, horse riding, kennel (shelter for dog), badminton and tennis court, mini golf course, bird watching tower, bicycle tours for foreign tourists, village tours, basic cooking classes for housewives, boat restaurants, lake side open air tandoor restaurant, sports bar, facilities for holding conferences, big lawn for marriage ceremonies and other five-star facilities, informed an official of the hospitality group.
Chilika Lake, one of the hot spot of biodiversity in the country, “was named Destination Flyways by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) on 21 January 2014,” said Mohanty. The lagoon was named so, for being a sustainable and resilient destination for migratory birds, he went on to add. As a result of this the Lake and its adjoining areas are visited by many domestic and foreign tourists. “However, there aren’t any star-category hotels in the area. Being in the travel trade for the last 30 years, we are fully aware of the tourism potential of the Chilika Lake as we handle many tourists everyday to that area and a resort of international quality is badly required to fill-up the requirements of both high-end domestic and foreign tourists visiting the area,” he said. The Swosti Chilika Resort, needless to say will cater to this requirement.
