Bhubaneswar: The century-old birthplace and the workplace of Utkal Gourav Madhusudan Das will be developed into a single museum complex to conserve the heritage of Madhu memorial.
Odisha 5T Secretary V K Pandian who visited the Madhu memorial Saturday morning on the direction of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said this after interacting with the local people and the local administration about the development of the place.
Madhu Sudan Das, popularly known as Madhu babu among the people of Odisha, was one of the prominent figures helping in the creation of Orissa province. He worked for the political, social, and economical upliftment of the people of Orissa and founded Utkal Sammilani which brought a revolution in the social and industrial development of Odisha.
Paying his tribute to Madhu Babu, Pandian said the Museum would be developed after holding discussions with people associated with the life of Madhu Babu and the heritage site.
Madhu Babu after returning from Kolkata dedicated his life to the service of the state staying at a house near his birthplace which is known as his workplace (karma bhumi).
The narrow lane connecting his birthplace with the workplace would be developed and a 15 feet high bronze statue of Madhu Babu will be installed, official sources said.
Light and sound show arrangements would be made on the glorious life of Madhu Babu which would be interpreted in multiple languages for the convenience of the visitors coming from outside the state.
Pandian said a welcome gate would be built at Satyabhamapur with Khandalite stone and a parking place would be developed close to his working place.
The plan for the development of the birthplace and workplace of Madhu babu would be prepared by April 15 next and submitted to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his approval.
