Maha firm launches e-scooter and rickshaw for commuters

Bhubaneswar: Odisha is catching up with clean transportation for urban commuting and Dhule, Maharashtra-based Usha Communication & Enterprise (UCE) and its retail partner K2K e-Motives Saturday launched several electric motor powered 2-wheel scooters and 3-wheel rickshaws in the capital.

Two e-scooter models — B6 and B6 Plus come with attractive pricing Rs 67,000 to Rs 70,000 (on road) respectively. Senior sales manager of UCE Manas Das said: “B6 and B6 Plus models are equipped with lith­­ium battery which can be fully charged in 6-8 hours. The driving range of the B6 is 120 km on a single charge when driven at speeds of 50-60km/hr. It can carry payload of up to 150 kg. B6 Plus riding range is 130 km at speeds of 65-70 km/h.” The Rs 1.5 lakh e-rickshaw will be sold as Tejas that has a range of 80 km at speeds of 25-30 km/hr.

The models were launched by UCE Chairman Rajan Saine and Odia actor Sidhant Mohapatra in the presence of managing partner of K2K e-Motives Jai Batra and other officials.

Saine said, “New range of vehicles will enhances the cause of clean and green electric mobility in Odisha. The scooters are trendy in design and would appeal to the style conscious youth. We are delighted to partner K2K e-Motives who understand the automobile market.”

Batra said that e-vehicles have extremely low running costs and are very low on maintenance. He said plans were on to launch an electric bike next month and electric car in January, 2020. UCE has retaile presence in 9 states in India including Delhi and NCR and offers full back-up services.
