Bargarh: Normal life came to a grinding halt Monday after a 12-hour bandh call by the Koshal State Coordination Committee in 11 districts of western Odisha, demanding the formation of a separate Koshal state.
The agitators were seen picketing outside several offices this morning. While educational institutions, shops and business establishments remained closed, traffic movement was disrupted.
Various associations including Bargarh district lawyers’ association, traders’ association, Chetna, district journalists’ association, auto-rickshaw owners’ association and other youth organisations extended their support for the bandh.
Emergency services have been excluded from the ambit of bandh.
Police forces have been deployed in the areas to prevent any untoward incident.
