BHUBANESWAR: Satyanarayan Maharana of Berhampur has been nominated by Genius Foundation for Genius Indian Achievers Award. He is known for miniscule art works made up of wood, soaps and wheels.
He will be felicitated with the prestigious award at Mumbai May 12. It may be noted here that Maharana is the only Odia artiste to be feted with this national-level award.
Interacting with Orissa Post, Maharana said, “God has been kind to me and I have always created miniature replicas of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra on a Chariot. The committee found my works to be unique. In fact, I have created miniature art on paper, banana and soaps.”
His work on Lord Jagnnath’s chariot was 4.5 inch in height where his Ganesha miniature art is only 3.3 mm long. Eminent painter Binodini Behera said, “Maharana’s are the true art workers of the state. The community has always reached new heights in the field. The art fraternity is truly proud of Satya’s feat. Such intricacy in artworks calls for dedication, hard work, precision and imagination.”
