Ranchi: Even though Ajinkya Rahane (115, 192b, 17×4, 1×6) fell before lunch it did not prevent Rohit Sharma from getting his maiden Test double hundred here Sunday. Rohit Sharma (211 batting) who is having a sensational series, kept up his assault on the South African bowlers to complete a well-deserved double hundred immediately after lunch. India went into the break at 357 for four with Rohit Sharma (199 batting) and Ravindra Jadeja (15 batting).
South Africa’s only success came when Test debutant left-arm spinner George Linde dismissed Ajinkya Rahane caught behind by another debutant Heinrich Klassen. Rahane edged a ball that spun and bounced sharply and edged the delivery to Klaasen who did not make any mistake. However, before his departure, the Mumbai pair of Rohit Sharma-Ajinkya Rahane put on 267 runs for the fourth wicket.
