Make in Odisha Conclave-2018 to the ‘Skilled in Odisha’ sons and daughters

Bhubaneswar: Declaring the second edition of biennial business meet Make in Odisha Conclave to showcase the state’s industrial prowess open at the Janata Maidan here, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik Sunday reminded the captains of industry and Consul Generals of various nations that the state offers “enormous business and growth opportunities” for them.
“This is the second edition of the Make in Odisha Conclave which has travelled a long way from a humble beginning. During the last two decades the state
has made great strides in all
fields including industry, poverty alleviation and food security scheme,” Naveen said, adding, “Odisha today offers wonderful
opportunities for you. Come and explore them.”
The Chief Minister inaugurated the exhibition with a colorful note in the presence of his Cabinet Ministers, the Ambassador of Japan to India Kenji Hiramatsu, various Consul Generals and dignitaries. The five-day event will conclude November 15.
Odisha is acknowledged for its exquisite art and craft and it is now contributing to the growth
of the nation through its skilled workforce, which is trained in
various trades and has been excelling in various industries in Odisha and beyond. The young men and women here are the
harbingers of the “I am Odisha” campaign, he observed.
Stating that contemporary Odisha is different from what it it used to be two decades back, the Chief Minister pointed out, “Who had thought that Odisha will top the Smart City challenge in the country? Who thought Odisha would set global standards in disaster management? Who thought Odisha would play a major role in the country’s food security scheme? Who thought Odisha would alleviate so many people from the pangs of poverty?”

The expo featured as many as 119 exhibitors from across the business world including Adani Group, Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited, Britannia Industries Limited, Emami Paper Mills Ltd, Grasim Industries Ltd, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Pvt Ltd, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd, ITC Limited, Jindal Stainless Limited, Parle Agro Pvt Limited, Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd, Ultratech Cement and Vedanta Limited.

The highlight of the expo was the Odisha Theme pavilion christened ‘Deomali’ with mesmerising projections on the geodesic dome. The dome was built for the first time in India and projected the focus sectors and major tourism destinations in the state.

The inaugural ceremony was followed by an evening of spectacular cultural performances involving 200 artistes, 50 technicians who had put in about 30,000 hours to bring alive the dreams of Odisha through its Make in Odisha mission.
