Male achievers receive Shrie Awards

Bhubaneswar: Parichay Foundation presented the Shrie Awards to a number of male personalities for achievements in their respective fields, Saturday.

The third edition of award ceremony was an initiative to pay tribute to manhood on the occasion of the World Father’s Day.

The award ceremony began with the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Sarat Kumar Sahoo, managing director of Om Oil and Flour Mills.

The Lifetime Achievement Award was followed by other awards. The awardees included Jagadananda (social service), noted mardal player Guru Banamali Behera (art and culture), Subrat Pani (entrepreneurship), Dr Deepak Ranjan Das (medical science), Sudhir Kumar Rout (education), Arindam Das (journalist), Pankaj Bhue (sports), Dayanidhi Dadhich (emerging talent), Trinath Patra (trendsetter) and Kalee Prasana Patnaik (art).

Eminent journalist Padma Bhusan Prabhu Chawla felicitated the awardees.

With gratitude heart, Banamali said, “I am glad for being awarded by the foundation. I urge the foundation to continue felicitating the personalities who are involved in the field of art and culture.”

The awardees were selected on the basis of suggestions of all executive and committee members of the foundation and also from previous years’ Shrie Awards recipients. The award has been instituted to honour the significant personalities who made social impact in their own spheres but stayed away from limelight.

Apart from award ceremony, a panel discussion to mark Father’s Day was also held at the venue.  Odia film actor and MLA of Korei Constituency Akash Das Nayak, Indai idol junior winner Ananya Sritam Nanda, director of RUCHI and FROZIT Rashmi Sahoo and renowned odissi dancer Saswat Joshi took part in the discussion.  Participants’ fathers also joined with them.
