Malkangiri: A day after a Class-IV girl was allegedly raped at MV-10 under Malkangiri police limits in the district, police arrested an 18-year-old youth and forwarded him to court Saturday.
The accused has been identified as Chandra Sekhar Barala alias Chintu of MV-10. He was arrested following a complaint lodged by the victim’s father.
As per the complaint, the victim and her family members had gone to a relative’s house at MV-10 Thursday. The nine-year-old girl was playing outside the house in the evening when Chintu, who lives in the neighbourhood lured her with money and called her to his house. When she went inside the house, the youth allegedly raped her.
The matter came to light after the victim’s uncle spotted blood stains on her clothes. When she was asked about the matter, she narrated her ordeal to the family members. Her parents immediately rushed her to Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and lodged a complaint with police.
