Bolangir: Odisha State Commission for Women (OSCW) chairperson Minati Behera Saturday visited the family members of deceased teacher Mamita Meher at the victim’s house in Jharani village under Tureikela police limits of Bolangir district.
According to a source, a four-member team led by Behera reached Bolangir Friday afternoon and held a discussion with SP Kusalkar Nitin Dagdu regarding the murder case. The team visited Mamita’s parental home Saturday morning to hold discussions with the family.
The team is expected to inspect the crime spot at the under-construction stadium in Mahaling area of Kalahandi district, where Mamita Meher’s body was found, later in the day.

The team, comprising of Additional SP Bijaya Barua, Inspector Sasmita Das and Legal Officer Arabinda Pattanayak, is also likely to visit Sunshine English Medium School where Mamita worked as a teacher. They are expected to review the safety and security of students studying in the institute.
It is pertinent to mention, taking cognisance of the murder, the OSCW has sought a detailed report from Bolangir SP Kusalkar.
Meanwhile, prime accused Gobinda Sahu was arrested by Bolangir police October 19. Police traced him out from a sugarcane field at Budhipadar village under Bangomunda block in Bolangir district where he was hiding.
A team of the Bolangir police probing the murder case Friday took accused Sahu to the crime spot in the stadium at Mahaling to recreate the crime scene.
