Bolangir: In the sensational murder case of lady teacher Mamita Meher, senior Congress leader Narasingha Mishra has offered to fight the case in court on behalf of the deceased’s family.

The octogenarian Bolangir MLA, who used to be a lawyer by profession, Saturday told the bereaved family that he would don the black coat once again, if they ask.

“If the family wishes and gives me the charge of the case, I will take it up and fight in the courtroom to deliver justice to the family,” he said, adding that he has told the family that he is not into practice. But if required, he can fight their case.

Mishra said, “If this happens, the first thing I would do is to file a PIL in court.”

At the same time, the veteran leader added that he has advised minister Dibya Shankar Mishra to resign on his own for his alleged involvement in the case.

Notably, Mamita Meher was a resident of Jharni village under Turekela block in Bolangir district. She worked as a teacher at Sunshine English Medium School at Mahaling area in Kalahandi district. Mamita went missing October 8 and was found dead subsequently. Prime accused Gobinda Sahu was arrested October 19. During interrogation, he confessed to have murdered the lady teacher.
