Man arrested for branding neighbour’s minor sons  

Paralakhemundi: Police arrested a man for allegedly branding two minor sons of his neighbour with hot iron over a past enmity here, Sunday.

The accused has been identified as B Loku, a neighbour of T Tarakeshwar of Sanjay Gandhi Colony, said sub-divisional police officer Thakur Prasad Patra and Model Police Station IIC Bibekananda Swain at a press meet.

The incident occurred when the two sons of Tarakeshwar were playing with other children near their house. Loku called the two boys inside his house and branded them with hot iron, October 9.

Hearing their screams, Tarakeshwar and his wife rescued the children from Loku’s house and admitted them to the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

Police arrested the accused after Tarakeshwar lodged a complaint at the Model Police Station four days after the incident.

Expressing its concern over the incident, the district child protection unit has arranged for the treatment of the siblings.
