Buguda: Police Sunday arrested a man on the charge of slitting the throat of his deceased daughter’s mother-in-law at Annapurna Nagar here in Ganjam district.
The accused was identified as Basant Sahu alias Padmanabha of Patadhar village under Jagannathprasad police limits. A motorcycle was seized from his possession while a knife used in the killing was seized from the nearby jungle.
Basant entered the residence of Kanak Sahu, wife of Kabichandra Sahu, and the mother-in-law of his deceased daughter and slit her throat to avenge the killing of his daughter over dowry Saturday.
He fled the scene after the murder and was hiding at his house when Buguda police raided his house with the help of Jagannathprasad police and arrested him Saturday night. Basant admitted to his crime during interrogation.
