Bhuban: Forest department personnel here arrested a man for allegedly poaching a wild boar, and seized the carcass of the animal from his possession, Sunday. The arrested poacher has been identified as Prahallad Pradhan, 60, a resident of Matia Sahi of Usakana village under this police limits in Dhenkanal district.
According to information, the Forest department received a tip off about a man who was carrying the carcass of a wild boar after poaching it from Bharati hill area near Bhuban in the wee hours of Sunday.
Acting on the tip off, a Forest team, including Bhuban ranger Rakesh Kumar Dalei and forester Kalpana Behera, went on the poacher’s trail and nabbed him with the kill. The seized carcass of the wild boar was buried in a pit dug up inside Kanchanbahal nursery premises after post-mortem. A case in this regard has been registered and the accused was produced in a court for remand, Sunday.
