Man arrested in Rs 54,000 ATM fraud

Ganjam: A man was arrested and forwarded to court for his involvement in an ATM fraud of Rs 54,000 at Balipadar under Buguda police limits in Ganjam district Thursday.

The accused was identified as Narayan Digal of Dulukia village under Baliguda police station in Kandhamal district.

Laxman Nayak, a resident of Bhetnai village under Aska police limits in the district had gone to an ATM counter in Balipadar to withdraw cash June 2 this year. Laxman was left shocked after he received messages on his mobile that Rs 54,000 has been debited from his account in two transactions.

Following the suspicious transactions, Laxman lodged a complaint with Buguda police June 5.

In the first phase, Narayan transferred Rs 34,000 to his account while he again withdrew cash of Rs 20,000 from an ATM in Buguda later, police said.
