Bhawanipatna: A man allegedly attempted to murder his pregnant wife by slitting her throat late Sunday night. The incident took place at Dhanarmal village under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi.
The injured woman has been identified as Prakashini Sahani and her husband as Nihar. Prakashini is a native of Sambalpur district and had married Nihar a few years back. The husband and wife duo had an altercation Sunday night. Things took an ugly turn when Nihar turned violent and slit her throat following the spat. Nihar fled the spot after committing the heinous crime.

Prakashini soon became unconscious as she bled profusely. Neighbours found her senseless Monday morning. She was taken to the Kesinga hospital for treatment. Doctors attending to her said that she is critical.
On being informed by some villagers, police registered a case in this connection and have started their investigation. They have also launched a manhunt to nab the accused. Police are certain that he will be apprehended very soon.
