Keonjhar: Keonjhar District Sessions Judge Ashok Kumar Panda Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 after convicting him of the murder of his father in 2019. The convict was identified as Naba Kishore Munda, son of slain Bishu Munda of Gajaamba village under Pandapada police limits in Keonjhar district. The judge pronounced the order after examining the police chargesheet and the statements recorded by 13 witnesses.

According to the case diary, Bishu’s married daughter came to her parental house after a long gap, March 21, 2019. Overjoyed, Bishu asked to prepare chicken curry for her daughter and killed two birds kept in the house. All the family members had dinner at night. However, Bishu became angry when he was not served chicken curry. When he enquired, his wife told him to wait as it was still being cooked. This led to an argument between Bishu and his son Nabakishore which soon escalated.

Later, in a fit of rage, Nabakishore attacked his father Bishu with an axe and bludgeoned his head repeatedly which resulted in his death on the spot. Police arrested the accused son and produced him in court over a complaint lodged by the deceased’s wife Gurubari Munda.
