Man convicted of human sacrifice gets lifer

Balasore: A local court convicted a man in a case of human sacrifice and sentenced him to life imprisonment in Balasore Wednesday.

Judge Debashish Rout of additional district sessions court-2 also pronounced rigorous imprisonment and imposed a penalty of Rs 11,000 on the convict.

According to the case diary, 6-year-old daughter of Kamalakant Sutar, a resident of Bodhi under Oupada police limits went missing April 3, 2017.  A complaint had been lodged with the police. Her body was found floating on the pond of Madan Sutar, brother of Kamalakant April 7.

The vein of her right leg was found cut when the body was retrieved. A strangulation mark was also found on her neck.

A complaint of murder was filed with police. Police started an investigation and arrested Madan Sutar (54). Madan had been practicing sorcery.

He admitted before police that he had called his niece to his house on the plea of giving her food. Then, he cut her hand and offered her blood to his deity. The girl was later strangulated with a piece of rope and her body was dumped in the pond.

13 witnesses had deposed before the court about the horrendous crime. Madan’s own son was one of the witnesses.
