Man critically hurt in wild bear attack

Nuapada: A wild bear critically injured a 50-year-old man at Soseng village, situated inside the Sunabeda Wildlife Sanctuary under Komana block in this district, Sunday. The injured was identified as Tulsingh Majhi, a resident of Soseng village.

According to information, around 9 am, Sunday, Tulsingh had taken his goats for grazing in a field when a wild bear suddenly emerged from the jungles in the vicinity and attacked him. Tulsingh put up a fight with the wild animal which tore off both his legs and mauled him severely. Hearing Tulsingh’s screams, fellow villagers who were working in nearby fields rushed to the spot and managed to shoe off the wild bear. They rescued Tulsingh in critical condition and rushed him to Sunabeda Hospital. After getting preliminary treatment, he was shifted to Nuapada District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) for further treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.
