Kakatpur: In a shocking case, a man beheaded his wife suspecting infidelity. He then carried her head to the Astarang police station in Puri district where he surrendered late Sunday night. The gruesome incident has sent shudders down the spines of the local people.
The accused has been identified as Ganesh Behura alias Bapi of Raiberuan village under Astarang police limits.
Police quoting Ganesh said he had been working at a private company in Chennai. Recently he came to his village for a few days. However, after his arrival he suspected that his wife Annapurna, 35, was having an extra-marital affair. The couple regularly had arguments on this issue.
Sunday night, again a bitter argument broke out between the two. However, fed up with his wife’s obstinacy, Ganesh picked up a crowbar and started beating her till she fell unconscious. Then Ganesh picked up billhook and decapitated his wife.
Police along with a forensic team from Puri town visited the crime spot and have started their investigation.
