Man dies during OBC survey in Balasore district

Balasore: An elderly man breathed his last Tuesday afternoon while attending an Other Backward Class (OBC) survey at the Sobharampur school premises in this district. The deceased was identified as Brahmananda Khanda, 62, a resident of Angaragadia locality under the Industrial police station in this town. Sources informed that the survey was being conducted to assess the social and economic condition of OBC people. Khanda, who had gone to attend the survey, suddenly collapsed and became unconscious.

Locals rushed him to the district headquarters hospital here where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and have sent the body for postmortem, officials informed. They added that Khanda’s family members have also been informed. Sources meanwhile said that Khanda may have died due to heatstroke.
