Anandpur: A ten-wheeler truck hit a motorcyclist on NH-20 near Anandpur town in Keonjhar district Wednesday killing him on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Sadanand Mohanty (53), a resident of Patuli village under Patna Tehsil here. He was an employee of the Horticulture Department in Anandpur.
According to eyewitnesses, the mishap took place when Sadanand was returning from the market after finishing his work near Ghasipura. A speeding truck rear-ended the motorcycle and dragged it along for several meters resulting in the death of the person on the spot.
Tension prevailed in the area following the incident.
On being informed, Ghasipura police reached the spot and started an investigation into this incident. Police later pacified the agitated locals and sent the body for postmortem.
