Man electrocuted

Bhubaneswar: A man in his late 40s was electrocuted after he came in contact with a high tension wire near a shopping mall under Nayapalli police limits here Sunday, a senior police official said.

“According to a security guard of the shopping mall, the man was drunk when he climbed atop a mango tree nearby the mall and came in contact with an 11kv wire passing close to it. He was somewhere between 45 and 50 years old,” said IIC Arun Kumar Swain who received a distress call around 4pm, adding that the victim’s identity is yet to be ascertained.

Police rushed to the spot and managed to pull down the body around 4.30pm before sending it for an autopsy. “Efforts are on to ascertain his identity at the earliest,” said Swain added.
