Mayurbhanj: A man was allegedly hacked to death over an illicit love affair of Dahisahi village in Morada police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
The matter came to the fore after his body was found on the outskirts of the village early Tuesday morning. The deceased has identified as Rajesh Sharma of Shankarpur village in Bhadrak district.
After getting information, police reached the murder spot and launched a probe. Based on circumstantial evidences, a case of murder was registered and the body was sent for autopsy.
According to sources, Rajesh had an illicit affair with a local identified as Thakura Marandi’s wife. Marandi has earlier warned him to mend his ways. However, Rajesh continued his illicit relationship in the absence of Marandi.
In an act of revenge, Marandi hatched a plan to eliminate Rajesh and attacked him after finding him alone in the village corridor. He later took the body and dumped it near a farmland on the outskirts of the village.
Locals spotted the body lying in a pool of blood near a farmland and alerted the cops. Meanwhile, police detained Marandi for interrogation.
“An investigation into the case is underway,” a senior police officer said.
